“Someday I'll Fly” es el título elegido por Eastwood Allen para el documental que ha creado sobre John Mayer… como sabéis todos los seguidores de Mayer es el estribillo de uno de sus temas más conocidos “Bigger than my body”...
Es interesante comprobar que se trata de un documental autorizado por el propio Mayer (aunque no es oficial), es de libre distribución y está narrado en primera persona por el propio guitarrista … y es que este joven (de mi quinta 77' ;-) ) genio de las seis cuerdas ya había trabajado con Eastwood Allen en los vídeos de "Assassin" y "The Age of Worry" …
El documental tiene una duración aproximada de una hora … es un viaje por la evolución de Mayer en la música, desde sus primeros directos y grabaciones hasta los “últimos” hits y éxitos … y todo ello gracias al trabajo de recopilación de demos, entrevistas, conciertos … que ha hecho este gran fan de Mayer.
En el vídeo se narran infinidad de anécdotas … por ejemplo, que su aficción a la guitarra le viene de la famosa escena final de "Regreso al Futuro I” en la que Marty McFly se marca una versión del "Johnny B. Goode" con una Gibson 345 … o cómo flipó cuando escuchó a Jimi Hendrix y a SRV desde el primer minuto; Por supuesto, también se habla del punto de inflexión en su carrera que supuso el trío con Steve Jordan y Pino Palladino … ese momento que tanto nos gusta a los “guitarristas”.
